He said no resolution would be equitable or honourable which was not in accordance with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people, adding that the merchants of war everywhere promoted violence as the means of settling political disputes but this had to be resisted through recourse to peaceful, indigenous political movements.
He also recalled his association with Shaheed Benazir Bhutto and the efforts made by her for finding a just and honourable resolution and raising the Kashmir issue at various international forums.
President Zardari said the international community, especially US President Barrack Obama, would have to resolve the long lingering issue of Kashmir peacefully for durable peace in the region as Kashmiris were facing atrocities of Indian forces for last 60 years. The sacrifices made by the Kashmiris would not be neglected, he maintained.
Pakistan, the President said, always intended to have cordial relations with India. But peace without resolution of Kashmir dispute could not prevail in the region.
