A British journalist held captive by militants in north-Waziristan since March has been freed. Asad Qureshi was abducted from Wana while on way to Waziristan from Kohat along with Former ISI man Sultan Ameer alias Col. Imam, Squadron (rtd) Muhammed Khalid Khawja on March 25 on charges of spying.
Khalid was killed on April 30 and his body was thrown into suburbs of Mir Ali.
The release of Asad Qureshi was confirmed by the British High Commission in Islamabad. A Foreign Office spokesman said: "We can confirm that Asad Qureshi has been released. Our consular staff are providing assistance", reported the BBC For months there have been considerable fears over Mr Qureshi's safety after he was kidnapped by a militant group calling itself the Asian Tigers.
Mr Qureshi had been working for an independent production company on a documentary commissioned by Channel 4.
