21 killed in US drone strike in NWaziristan
At least 21 people were killed in US drone attacks at a house and vehicle here in Miranshah on late Tuesday night.
According to sources US drones fired two missiles on a vehicle and compound of a house in Kharwani area of Miranshah, the trial headquarter of North Waziristan Agency (NWA) at around 2:20am.
As a result of missile attack the house and vehicle were destroyed completely.
At least 21 suspected militants stated to be belonging to Haqqani Group were killed in the attacks.
The tribesmen on self assistance basis initiated the rescue operation and dug out bodies from the rubble of the destroyed houses.
However, many people avoided to take part in rescue work as four US drones continued low flights in the said areas and tribesmen feared another done strike as did they witnessed during past few months. Official sources have confirmed death of seven extremists only.
Masses have expressed grave concern over the US strikes and killing of tribal people during holy month of Ramazan. They urged the political leadership to raise the issue of violation of national sovereignty with US authorities.
On the other hand Pakistan has officially protested to the United States that the strikes violate its sovereignty, although some officials have said there is a tacit understanding between the two militaries allowing such action.
