PESHAWAR - Seven vehicle were reduced to metal when unknown miscreants attacked NATO containers with
rockets and petrol bombs in Torbaba area of Ring road in the outskirt of Peshawar.
As per details, some unknown miscreants first attacked the Pak Afghan containers terminal situated on Ring
Road Peshawar in premises of Yakka Toot Police Station. Later, pelting of petrol bombs in different portions of
the container terminal followed the rocket attack.
The eyewitnesses informed that pelting of petrol bombs led to fire flames all over the site, causing destruction of
seven vehicles, including two containers.
Soon after the attack, the watchmen brought the matter in notice of police authorities. However, the fire brigade
and police force arrived too late. The fire flames were visible till Friday morning and hundreds of people rushed
to the site.
The staffers and watchmen confirmed that beside other supplies, the destroyed goods included military
equipment, clothing, foodstuff and other items of military needs in the destroyed containers.
So far no one has claimed responsibility for attacking the US and NATO supplies but involvement of Taliban is
suspected in such acts. Recently the government had claimed flushing away most of the militants from Jamrud
and Bara region of Khyber Agency, but still the militants activities continue in the outskirt of Peshawar.
It may be mentioned here that for averting such attacks and ensuring safety measures to US and NATO
supplies, the NWFP Government has already reduced entry from Punjab. In this respect, terminals have been
established in Attock, Mianwali and other parts of Punjab province.
