'Q' to defend President with full force
Source: OUR STAFF REPORTER August 11, 2008 LAHORE - “President Pervez Musharraf would neither resign nor dissolve the assemblies. He would, rather, defend the charges against him in the Parliament and defeat the impeachment motion,” PML-Q President Ch Shujaat Hussain told reporters at a news conference on Sunday night after chairing a meeting of party’s Central Working Committee, which was also addressed telephonically by MQM Chief Altaf Hussain.
Senator Mushahid Hussain, Leader of Opposition in National Asembly Ch Pervaiz Elahi and other PML-Q leaders including Amir Muqam, Senator Tariq Azim, former federal minister Sher Afgan Niazi and provincial heads of PML-Q were also present on the occasion.
Shujaat said that PML-Q had decided to defend the President with full force and with the help of allies including the MQM. He said MQM chief Altaf Hussain has assured full backing to the President over impeachment issue.
Shujaat said he had talked to President Musharraf, who told him that he knew how to defend himself against all odds. He said Musharraf would neither resign nor dissolve the assemblies. “He would not relinquish without giving a tough fight to the ruling coalition,” Shujaat further told newsmen.
