WASHINGTON (Agencies) - A US senator who has just visited Pakistan, on Sunday said the Pakistan Army might be considering a move into the Taliban stronghold of North Waziristan. Speaking in CNNs State of the Union programme, Sen Joe Lieberman said the Pakistan Army was on the move and theres a possibility the US would see activity in that volatile northern region.
Lieberman, an independent from Connecticut, and Arizona Republican Sen John McCain recently met with COAS Gen Ashfaq Parvez Kayani. Pakistani leaders have said they will send the military into any area where they feel the governments authority is challenged. They have not specifically outlined any future operations.
