WASHINGTON (Agencies) - Pakistan Muslim League-N Quaid Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, while declaring restoration of the deposed judges as guarantee for security and prosperity of the next generation, said that deposed judges should be restored through an executive order instead of constitutional package.
In an interview with Voice of America, Nawaz said: "Our members took oath for restoring the deposed judges and made a commitment in Murree Declaration."
He said he will inform the PPP about PML-N's decision after consultations with party leaders on the constitutional package.
"We regret to resign from the Federal Cabinet because the commitment made to the nation in the Murree Declaration could not be honoured," he said.
Commenting on the lawyers long march, he said that we fully support the lawyers movement because reinstatement of judges is the guarantee of Pakistan's security and happiness of the coming generations.
He said that the restoration of judges through constitutional package is wrong. "PML-N will try its best not to validate the unconstitutional steps of Nov 3 of Musharraf," he added.
Commenting on the future of Musharraf, he said that his party and PPP Co-Chairman had asked Musharraf to step down and the nation has already impeached him in the elections.
Nawaz Sharif said that he does not recognise constitutional package as constitutionally and morally valid.
The reinstatement of deposed judges who opted not to take oath under PCO is possible through a simple resolution.
