Crackdown on property tax defaulters

LAHORE-The Excise & Taxation Department, Punjab on Monday launched a massive crackdown on leading property tax defaulters including five star hotels, famous institutions, bureaucrats, retired Generals, politicians and others.

Pearl Continental Hotel, Avari Hotel, National Press Trust, Lahore Development Authority, Water and Power Development Authority, Aitchison College, National Industrial Cooperative Corporation, Pakistan Arts Council, Punjab Boys Scout Association, Liquidation Board, Delhi House are among top 50 property tax defaulters.

Jamaat-i-Islami central leader Hafiz Salman Butt is also among those who are yet to pay property tax due on them.

The Punjab govt has given formal approval to carry out the hard-hitting crackdown to get Rs 150 million to help E&T Department meet its revenue target.
