Asif Zardari asked to keep PPP crown

LAHORE -The PPP Central Executive Committee which met at Islamabad on Friday with party chief and President Asif Ali Zadari in the chair, unanimously asked Zardari to continue as party Co-Chairman for an indefinite period.

Interestingly, it was PPP Vice-Chairman Makhdoom Amin Fahim who presented a resolution in the meeting expressing full confidence in the leadership of Asif Zardari and pleading that he should continue as PPP Co-Chairman in recognition of his services for the party.

All members of CEC unanimously supported the resolution and Zardari was elected as party chief amid loud applause by partymen.

It is to be noted that Amin Fahim had been keeping estranged relationship with Zardari since February 18 general elections. They virtually parted ways when Zardari refused to nominate Makhdoom as party candidate for the office of Prime Minister.
