Farzana likely to replace Sherry

ISLAMABAD - In the forthcoming cabinet expansion and reshuffle, the portfolio of Information and Broadcasting will most likely be given to PPP MNA Farzana Raja, TheNation learnt here on Wednesday.

The sources within the PPP and Information Ministry claimed that Information Minister Sherry Rehman was likely to be replaced by Farzana Raja who had proved her worth as party's articulate spokesperson in media during the last many months.

"She has proved her mettle before and after general elections 2008 to defend party's policy at every front and during presidential poll. She successfully dispelled objections raised against Asif Ali Zardari's candidacy," said the sources, adding that her quick wittiness while defending the PPP as well as government's lines had placed her at the top of the list. They said another name that under consideration among party high-ups is that of Senator Babar Awan. "Sherry Rehman would be given the portfolio of Health Ministry," said the sources.

It is to be mentioned here that currently Sherry holds additional charge of Ministry of Health. Some credible sources in Ministry of Information and PTV claimed that PPP central command had also offered PTV Chairman/MD Dr Shahid Mas-ood to become Advisor to PM on Information but he declined the offer with gratitude.
