LAKKI MARWAT - At least five persons including a former MNA were injured in a bomb blast here at Naurang town on Friday.
Eyewitnesses informed that the ex-MNA Naseer Muhammad Khan was supervising construction work of his petrol pump when the bomb, reportedly planted in a bicycle, exploded with a big bang. It seems that the ex-lawmaker was the target of the attack, as he holds an important position in Marwat Qaumi Jirga and is also an influential leader of JUI-F, sources informed.
They said the Jirga played a dynamic role in eliminating militancy and assisting law enforcement agencies in their actions against terrorists and militants in the recent past. The incident has exposed serious threat to the lives of other Jirga members, a source informed. Police and locals shifted the injured to Civil Hospital Naurang. The injured included ex-MNA Naseer Khan, Nazir Khan, Qasim Khan, Sher Muhammad and Jahandad Khan.
The sources disclosed that Naseer and Nazir were later referred to Peshawar while the rest were shifted to Bannu for further treatment.
