QUETTA A complete shutter-down and wheel jam strike was observed in Hub town while protest rallies were taken out in different districts of Balochistan by Baloch nationalist parties and student organisations to protest the alleged target killings of Baloch in Karachi allegedly by Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM).
A complete shutter-down and wheel jam strike was observed in Hub, the industrial town of Balochistan on the call, jointly given by Baloch National Front (BNF), Balochistan National Party (BNP-Mengal) and Baloch Students Organisation (BSO-Azad).
All shops, markets and main business centers in Hub town remained closed throughout the day while the activists of BNF and BSO placed barricades and burnt old tyres on highway linking Quetta and Karachi that resulted in suspension of vehicular traffic between Hub and Karachi causing great inconvenience to commuters.
Employees of different industries in Hub, coming from Karachi faced difficulties to reach their work while attendance in government offices was also thin.
Administration had taken extraordinary security measures in Hub town and personnel of police and other law-enforcement agencies were deployed at different parts of the City to avert any untoward incident.
Mobile squads of police continued patrolling the City. However, no any untoward incident was reported from any part of the City.
They activists of nationalist parties took out a protest rally holding party flags and chanting slogans against govt and MQM demanding for the arrest of culprits involved in the killings of Baloch people in Karachi.
Addressing the rally, former MNA and leader of BNP-Mengal leader Abdul Rauf Mengal strongly condemned the brutal murder of Baloch in Karachi allegedly by MQM and ,added, that target killing of Balochs in Karachi and Balochistan was being continued for the last four years.
He said that PPP members who came into power from the votes of people of Lyari were reluctant to point a finger at MQM which was openly challenging the writ of government and targeting innocent Baloch youth, women and children.
He warned MQM to avoid killing of innocent Baloch people who were the real heirs of the Karachi and living there for last thousands of years.
He also regretted the performance of media, saying media was not highlighting the real culprits involved in acts of terrorism in Karachi.
According to reports reaching from other districts including Nushki, Khuzdar, Nasirabad, Kalat Makran, Usta Muhammad and other towns, the activists of National Party (NP) and Baloch Students Organisation (BSO-Pajar) took out protest rallies and condemned the killing of Baloch in Karachi.
Lawyers community on Monday, boycotted courts proceedings in Kharan, Mekran, Jaffarabad, Nasirabad, Hub, Kalat, Mustang and Khuzdar on the call of Baloch Bar Association against the killings of Balochs in Karachi.
Meanwhile, addressing a Press conference at Quetta Press Club Central Secretary Information Balochistan National Party (BNP-Mengal) Agha Hassan Baloch announced holding protest rallies and setting up hunger strike camps across Balochistan from January 20th against target killings in Karachi.
He alleged that through a well-knit plan and with the support of PPP, MQM was targeting Baloch in Lyari and other parts of Karachi. He alleged that PPP had kept criminal silence against the killings.
