SC can take suo moto of HR violations: CJP

MORO - Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has said that problems faced both by
the bench and bar are almost of the same nature.
Addressing Taluka Bar Moro on Saturday, the Chief Justice said everyone was striving hard for providing justice
to the deprived people at their doorsteps.
I salute young lawyers who struggled along with their seniors for two years for upholding the cause of justice, he
said.
Justice Iftikhar also appreciated the warm welcome he received saying the spontaneous expression of love had
shown that the people of Sindh loved him.
Moro Bar President Haji Rasool Bux Bhugio said they were delighted to see the Chief Justice of Pakistan in
Moro. He said it was for the first time in the history of Pakistan that a chief justice of the country had visited the
town bar.
General Secretary Moro Bar Subhan Zardari said posts of civil and family judges were lying vacant for the last
three years causing enormous difficulties to the citizens.
Saqib Abbasi, Shoaib Abbasi, Sardar Akbar Ajan, Bashir Khanzada and others also spoke on the occasion.

Online adds: Justice Iftikhar said that the Supreme Court can take suo moto notice of violation of human rights,
adding people have great expectations from the judiciary.
Addressing a ceremony after inauguration of Judicial Complex in Sahwan on Saturday, he said that it is SC
prerogative to judge if there is any contradiction regarding the Constitution, adding making laws is Parliaments
responsibility.
Talking on lawyers movement, he said that due to lawyers movement the people of the country have been made
aware of their fundamental rights. 'We are not living in 1947 or even 2007 when people were unaware of their
rights, he added.
Regarding the judicial policy, he said that it is such a plan, which has been devised, by all of us after much
struggle. The commission included judges, lawyers and other learned authorities.
The CJ said that the judicial policy encompasses almost all recommendations made by lawyers and judges
across the country and our goal was to deal with cases within six months of time. He said that judiciary policy is
not against any law.
'We have made a voluntary decision to do more work, although there is no such compulsion for us in the law.
After making judicial policy we are also working day and night to implement it, he added.
He said that visiting land of Sehwan is a great honour, adding, one of the most important tenets of Islam is
justice which is promoted by Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai.
Praising the contribution of lawyers of Jamshoro, he said that lawyers of Jamshoro stood for the rule of law and
remain active in the lawyers movement.
'The people of Sindh laid down their lives for the rule of law. By seeing such a great number of lawyers in this hall
I am confident that we will win in our struggle, he said with confidence.
'We are thankful to God that we have written a Constitution in the country since 1973. The Constitution has
separated judiciary, executive and legislative, he added.
