Pakistan wants quick release of $3 bln in loans: SBP chief
By SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT October 11, 2008 WASHINGTON - Pakistan is looking to get close to $3 billion in loans from international financial institutions released by the end of the fiscal year - as the country acts to shore up its budget, State Bank of Pakistan chief has said.
"We like to sit with the [lenders] to see how those guys can help us transition to a more stable environment," SBP Governor Shamshad Akhtar said Friday ahead of the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund this weekend.
