'President to write off Balochistan overdraft with SBP'

QUETTA - Balochistan Minister for Finance Mir Asim Kurd Gailoo has said that President Asif Ali Zardari has assured that he would talk with the federal government and make efforts to write off overdraft of State Bank on Balochistan so that financial constraints of province could be removed. He said this while talking to the newsmen on Saturday.

He said that during his meeting with the President, he apprised him about the financial crisis of Balochistan and requested him to play his role for writing off the overdraft of Balochistan.

It may be mentioned that previous provincial govt had taken overdraft of Rs 18 billion from the SBP. The provincial ministers said that President assured that he would play his role in this regard. Responding to a query regarding NFC Award, he said that the President had also assured that no injustice would be made with Balochistan in distribution of resources.

He further said that President Zardari was taking keen interests in Balochistan and wanted to bring progress and development in province so that it could be brought at par with other developed areas of country. He said that the President stressed for improvement of law and order situation in Balochistan as peace was inevitable for development and added that problems of province would be solved through dialogue.
