APDM, lawyers vow not to accept PCO judges

By IRFAN BUKHARI June 13, 2008

ISLAMABAD- Denouncing the raise in Supreme Court judges' strength through financial bill, APDM leaders and lawyers' top brass on Thursday vowed not to accept the assimilation of PCO judges under any circumstances, saying the move was unconstitutional.

JI central leader Liaquat Baloch said that the increase in Supreme Court judges' strength was a bid to accommodate PCO judges and to turn courageous judges into a minority in the apex court. He said the announcement was made to defuse lawyers' long march but added, "lawyers and APDM will never accept PCO judges". "We want restoration of deposed judiciary to November 2, 2007 position", he asserted. He said the ruling coalition had failed to keep its word on the judicial issue.
