LAHORE - Munaf Kalia and Javed Khanani who according to our rulers were instrumental in destabilising Pak economy, are being given VIP protocol in FIA detention.
Both the accused have been shifted to the office of Assistant Director Legal, Muhammad Aslam Chaudhry where luxury beds have been laid for them, sources in the agency disclosed on Wednesday.
Assistant Director Legal has been asked to perform his duties in the office of Deputy Director Legal temporarily.
Both the inmates, using tranquilizer for sleep at night, are being served with splendid meals.
It is worth mentioning here that the accused were involved in illegal business of Hundi, Hawala and transfer of foreign currency in billions of dollars.
According to Rehman Malik, adviser to Prime Minister on Interior they have committed cognizable crime causing great harm to country's economy.
On the other hand the accused, involved in petty offences have been kept in the FIA cells with handcuffs facing humiliation and heavy hand of the agency.
An accused detained in FIA lock-up, seeking anonymity said, 'only God knows what treatment I am going through during interrogation on the false charges of my business partner but on the other hand people involved in harming the economy of the country are being kept as guests'.
An investigating officer of the case on the condition of being kept secret said, that there was no breakthrough in the investigation.
He said that more developments on this front would come from Karachi where the FIA examining the record saved in the computers.
'So far we have been successful in getting data of one year of transactions', he said.
To a question, he said 'they are very sensitive people suffering from various diseases and if they are treated harshly and kept in lock-up they will die of suffocation'.
It is also noteworthy that a team of FIA and State Bank of Pakistan officials has also arrived here to interrogate the accused.FIA authorities have been asked to remain tight-lipped over the issue and not to talk to the media men.
As per reports Director General FIA, Tariq Pervez was also scheduled to arrive in Lahore on Wednesday. A good number of media men kept waiting outside the ruined building of FIA at Regal Chowk but he cancelled his programme for the reasons best known to him.
