Resign now to avoid court
Source: OUR STAFF REPORTER August 14, 2008 Nawaz apprised Grant of the growing anti-Musharraf sentiments among the people and the resentment against him in the national and four provincial assemblies. The PML-N Quaid also informed the foreign diplomat about the resolutions passed against Musharraf by three provincial assemblies with overwhelming majority asking him either to seek vote of confidence from his Electoral College or face impeachment.
He further told Grant that under the given situation it was better for Musharraf to resign immediately to avoid court cases he would have to face after the impeachment.
Mark Grant, in turn, told PML-N leaders that Britain wanted to see strong democratic institutions in Pakistan and had complete faith in country’s political leadership. He also expressed the desire to further strengthen ties with the people of Pakistan instead of individuals.
