ISLAMABAD (APP) - Advisor to Prime Minister on Interior, Rehman Malik has said that over 50 per cent overall reduction has been registered in petty crimes ratio in the country especially in urban areas while suicide bombing has almost ended.
In an interview with a private TV channel, he said, PPP was striving hard to achieve total tranquillity and peace in the country, as it is essential for economic development.
One million unregistered Subscriber Identity Modules (SIMs) were blocked as most of the crimes were being committed with the help of unregistered mobile numbers, he informed.
Agreements have also been inked with China and other countries to enhance the strength of law enforcement agencies, improve their capabilities aiming to enable them to achieve the targets, he said.
The situation in FATA was improving fast due to judicious measures taken by the government.
In a recent operation in Khyber Agency, as many as 400 criminals were arrested. Six kidnapped persons were also recovered from the custody of criminals.
Robbery and kidnapping for ransom in Sindh has also been controlled, he said.
Condemning Mumbai mayhem he said, Pakistan has offered all kind of support to India. He also urged India to join hands with Pakistan and move forward for the elimination of terrorism.
Both the countries should devise a joint strategy to eliminate terrorism. Composite dialogue process between the two countries should be resumed, he said.
He asked media to avoid glorification of terrorist activities as it encourages terrorists and create harassment among the public.
