Nawaz files papers from NA-123

This is noteworthy that NA-123 is one of the most important constituencies of Lahore. The constituency was carved out in 2002 from the areas of previous NA-92 and NA-94.

NA-92 possessed great significance because Mian Nawaz Sharif contested from this constituency in 1993 and won with a huge margin. He vacated the seat in by-polls and fielded his brother Abbas Sharif who also won the seat. The present NA-123 comprises major area of previous NA-92 and is still considered as stronghold of PML-N.

In 2002 and 2008, PML-N fielded Javed Hashmi from this seat who won both the polls with a huge margin.

Meanwhile the PML-N President Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif filed is nomination papers here Tuesday for PP-48 Bhakkar second in the court of Returning Officer, senior Civil Judge Muhammad Yaqoob.

He was flanked by Raja Ashfaq Sarwar who also filed his nomination papers as the covering candidate for the same seat.

After filing the nomination papers Shahbaz went to Niwani House where he addressed the workers and said that he was thankful for the confidence, they reposed in him.

He said that people of Bhakkar would see the new era of revolutionary development. He was of the view that after being elected as Chief Minister of Punjab, he would serve the public.
