Two FC men among three killed in attack

LANDI KOTAL - A remote-controlled bomb attack on Frontier Corps (FC) convoy in Khyber Agency on Sunday left two Jawans and a civilian dead while three others got seriously injured.
According to details, the FC convoy was heading towards tehsil Jamrud in Khyber Agency when a remote-controlled bomb hit the convoy at Mundakus area of tehsil Bara that resulted in damaging of three vehicles.
The incident left two FC Jawans identified as Naseer and Yar Muhammad Afridi dead on the spot while four other persons including Adil Nawaz, Taimour, Tahir Bangash and Ahtisham sustained serious injuries. They were rushed to Combined Military Hospital, Peshawar, for treatment where Ahtisham succumbed to his injuries.
After the incident, the security forces conducted a search operation in the area and arrested two suspects. The militants resorted to firing on FC fort from nearby hills after which the security forces targeted suspected hideouts of the terrorists in the area that resulted in destruction of two houses and killing of three militants.
On the other hand, the FC high-ups have called upon the masses to extend cooperation in doing away with criminal elements and eliminating militants from Khyber Agency.
In an appeal issued from the FC Headquarters, Peshawar, the people of the area were asked to extend support in busting militants as well as those who were involved in crimes. They also gave phone numbers 091-5860412 and 091-5760604 and asked the people to share information on these numbers.
Staff Reporter from Bajaur adds: At least three volunteers of Salarzai Qaumi Lashkar were seriously injured in a remote-controlled bomb blast in tehsil Salarzai on Sunday, while a levy check-post and a bridge were destroyed in similar type of attacks in tehsil Manod.
According to details, about 10 volunteers of Salarzai Qaumi Lashkar were on routine patrolling in Larghundai area when a bomb planted along the roadside exploded and three of them got injured. They were rushed to the hospital where their condition was stated to be stable.
The injured were identified as Noor Rehman, Syed Azeem and Noor Zaman. So far, a number of Lashkar men have been targeted in different attacks.
Meanwhile, unidentified miscreants destroyed a bridge by panning explosives in the wee hours of Sunday. In another incident, the militants destroyed a levy check-post, however, no casualty was reported.
