Four American soldiers killed in Afghanistan

Published: June 15, 2008

KABUL (AFP) - Four soldiers with the US-led force in Afghanistan were killed in a roadside bomb blast on Saturday, a coalition official and a statement said.
"Four coalition service members were killed and another was seriously wounded today while conducting operations in (southwestern) Farah province," the statement said.
A coalition spokesman said the soldiers died in an improvised bomb explosion.
Their nationalities were not disclosed.
On Friday night, Taliban rebels blasted into a prison using a suicide car bomb and guns freeing as many as hundreds of militant prisoners and killing at least two guards, officials said.
The brazen attack under cover of darkness ripped through the front entrance of the main jail in the insurgency-hit southern city of Kandahar, Justice Minister Sarwar Danish told AFP.
