Heeding the internal voices
By MUBASHIR HASSAN May 15, 2008 Addressing a joint meeting of party's CEC, Federal Council and parliamentarians from Punjab, Zardari said there were no deadlines in politics as it required patience. The PPP chief said that PML-N had to pull out of the coalition government for political reasons, but it would not go beyond this step to weaken the present political dispensation. He said PPP would continue to support PML-N government in Punjab and there was no question of creating any problem for it in the province. Asif asked party men not to become part of any move against Nawaz government in Punjab. "All of you must know that we are with Mian Sahib in Punjab," he affirmed.
The PPP chief said that he was well aware of the political damage done to the party due to delay in reinstatement of the deposed judges, but assured that it would be covered up after the issue was resolved through Parliament.
Zardari further stated that he was having dialogue with all stakeholders including the Establishment over the judges' issue to find some via media to come out of the constitutional crisis. He pledged resolution of the issue on the terms and conditions of the PPP.
Zardari was of the view that direct confrontation with the Establishment over the issue would be suicidal for the government and the political forces, and this was the reason that he was taking every step with great caution. He said he did not want to further aggravate the situation by taking decisions in haste.
