Foreign Office Spokesman, Abdul Basit said on Monday that no formal or official proposal had been sent by India for holding the second round of secretary-level talks in Islamabad.
Talking to a private TV channel, Basit said that the statement made by Indian External Affairs Minister, S M Krishna is really encouraging and Pakistan welcomes it but it was his personal desire not the official stance.
Basit maintained that Pak-India talks could only be possible through mutual understanding and as India has not conveyed anything yet to Pakistan, it was not known when next round of talks would be held.
Earlier, Krishna had indicated that the next round of talks between India and Pakistan would take place in Islamabad to push forward the dialogue process and Foreign Secretary Nirupama Rao would visit Pakistan soon.
APP adds: The spokesman rejected a news story published in The Washington Post, terming it as a fiction and said nuclear scientist Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan was a closed chapter.
He said the story is yet another repacking of fiction, which surfaces occasionally for purposes that are self-evident.
Pakistans non-proliferation credentials are second to none and its export controls are foolproof, the spokesman said in a statement issued on Monday.
