Gun to protect VIPs scares them

ISLAMABAD - A 14.5 MM anti-aircraft gun fixed on the rooftop of Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation (PBC) building near PM Secretariat accidentally went off on Monday morning causing panic in the high security area, TheNation learnt reliably.
According to details, the incident took place at around 9:17 a.m. when Head Constable Arif was trying to sensitise his colleague Constable Aslam about the procedure how to operate the gun.
Both the cops belong to 104 Air Defence Unit of the army deployed as operators of the gun.
Accidentally a single fire was shot from the gun and luckily no one was hurt. It however created a lot of panic in the area and bomb disposal squad rushed to the place.
It is pertinent to mention here that two anti-air craft guns have been fitted on the rooftop of PBC building and PM Secretariat National Assembly, Foreign Office, Supreme Court and other important offices are not too far from PBC building. An investigation team headed by an army Captain has been constituted to probe the matter.
