ISLAMABAD - Capital police on Monday recovered around 120-kilogram explosive material from a vehicle near Railway Carriage Factory on IJ Principal Road and arrested two persons including a woman.
According to details, three policemen including Assistant Sub-Inspector Afras, Head Constable Amjad and a constable intercepted a suspicious Toyota Hiace (LXK-1618) for special checking on IJ Principal Road. During the checking of the vehicle, seven cartons having 120-kilogram explosive material recovered from it.
The police also succeeded in arresting two persons riding a car including a woman Antari Begum and Gohar Zaman who have been shifted to Sabzi Mandi police station for further investigation.
Police have tightened security arrangements in the city and also averted a possible terror attempt in the city, the police spokesman said on Monday.
Police spokesman said that this explosive material was of high density and may be used for some terror activity. However, he said further investigation were underway from these nabbed persons. Meanwhile, DIG Bani Ameen has directed all SDPOs and SHOs to conduct effective patrolling in their areas and keep a vigilant eye on the activities of suspicious elements. He said that present situation was very much challenging and every personnel of Islamabad police force should be very much alert.
APP adds: In another development, police recovered 260kg explosives from a vehicle near Wah Cantt and arrested four terrorists.
According to Superintendent Police (Potohar) Kamran Adil, the police recovered 260kg explosive material from their possession.
