RAWALPINDI (Agencies) - Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Shairf called on Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani at the GHQ here Monday, reported a private TV channel.
Provincial security situation in the backdrop of last weeks serial blasts in Lahore, which claimed 50 lives and injured 100 others, topped the meetings agenda. The CM also discussed the plan of providing counter-terrorism training to Punjab Police by Pakistan Army in his one-on-one meeting with the army chief.
Meanwhile, Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani performed ground-breaking of Army Public School and College Rawalpindi Monday. According to Spokesman Pakistan Army, Chief of Army Staff was received by Lt-Gen Ashraf Saleem, Commander Army Air Defence on arrival. Chief of Army Staff said special steps would be taken for the welfare of Army Jawans and their families.
Special attention would be given to provide education and other facilities to Army Jawans and their families, he added.
