Lawyers gulf widens as PBC targets Afridi
By Assad Hameed November 16, 2008 ISLAMABAD - Widening the gulf between the anti and pro government lawyers, Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) on Saturday suspended the license of President, Peshawar High Court Bar Association, Latif Afridi Advocate.
PBC has also restrained Afridi from functioning as President, Peshawar High Court Bar Association and from operating the Accounts of the High Court Bar Association. Afridi is one of the prominent leaders of lawyers’ movement seeking restoration of deposed Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and other open- minded judges.
The decision against Latif Afridi was taken here in a meeting of the Executive Committee of the PBC, held here at the Council’s office with Ch Muhammad Ashraf Wahlah in the chair.
