2 cops killed as militants attack checkpost
MARDAN - At least two policemen have been killed and three others injured in militants attack on a check-post in Lond Khwar area, official sources disclosed on Tuesday.
As per sources, around 50 militants attacked Kharkai Check-Post in Lund Khwar at midnight. They targeted the check-post from all the four sides with rockets, AK-47 riffles and other heavy weapons. As a result of which, two policemen, identified as Sakhi Jan and Gul Nazar, were killed and three others, identified as Dost Ali Jan, Fazal and Shafiq, injured. All the injured were later shifted to District Headquarters Hospital, Mardan.
The sources also said that soon after the incident, a contingent of police also reached the site, but the militants had fled from there by that time.
