ISLAMABAD (Online) - Government has finalised draft of review petition seeking reversal of the order of disqualification of former prime minister Mian Nawaz Sharif and former Chief Minister Punjab, Mian Shahbaz Sharif.
The appeal would be filed either attaching brief verdict of Supreme Court or after detailed SC decision.
According to review appeal draft that is being prepared the punishment awarded to former Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif was politically motivated and clauses of disqualification did not affect if any person or politician got political punishment. So the court should review its decision and reverse it.
The review appeal also adopted a stance with regard to former Chief Minister Punjab, Mian Shahbaz Sharif that tribunal was to announce its verdict in the case challenging his qualification but it did not announce its decision even today. Therefore, high court could not hear the case till tribunal's verdict. The court should review its decision with regard to disqualification of Sharif brothers' and withdraw it. According to Attorney General of Pakistan, the petition has been prepared and soon will be filed.
Meanwhile, Attorney General of Pakistan Latif Khan Khosa has directed deputy attorney general to file a review petition in Sharif brothers' eligibility case.
According to a private TV channel Khosa said petition would be filed soon after the detailed decision. Deputy Attorney General Agha Tariq will file the petition.
Agha Tariq said he had got the message of attorney general regarding the review petition, which will be filed after reviewing the legal points of previous decision.
Attorney General Latif Khosa talking to a private TV channel said the next chief justice will take over the charge of his office after departure of the first one.
He said difference of opinion is a beauty of democracy. We have always said that another chief justice can take over the office charge only after the departure of first one.
Responding to a question about filing of review petition against disqualification of Sharifs, Khosa said appeal will be filed after reviewing the detailed decision.
