TALIBAN have set up a separate department in Swat called 'marriage centre and according to them, about 300 boys and girls are waiting for their turn in the list prepared for this purpose, BBC reported Friday.
Talking to the BBC, Taliban spokesman Muslim Khan said that the department was established sometimes back and it is led by Abu Abad commander.
According to him, the department has been set up for those boys and girls who wanted to marry at their own choice but their family members did not accept their choice.
We have specified a phone number for this purpose. On that boys and girls contact and express their willingness for marriage. Taliban after registering them contact their family members, he disclosed.
According to Sharia, he added, marriage is the right of every Muslim.
About 11 couples have tied the knot in last nine day, he said. He added that marriages at the centre are not solemnized in a lavish manner but in a simple way.
On the other hand, a local resident seeking anonymity said that a boy proposed a girl in his mohalah but the family members of the girl refused.
The boy contacted Taliban who compelled her parents in this regard and forcefully solemnized their nikkah.
