ISLAMABAD 'Abject surrender was the audible quip from Kh Asif when Leader of the Opposition Ch Nisar Ali Khan while addressing on the floor of the House expressed his ignorance about the outcome of the PM-CJ meeting.
A few voices came from different directions giving the clue that the matter has been resolved but Kh Asifs voice sitting next to Ch Nisar Ali Khan was more audible probably the sensitive mike caught his crispy words of 'abject surrender.
The relatively tense atmosphere in the house was relaxed by his quip and people sitting on the opposition benches as well as those up in the press and visitors galleries equally enjoyed it.
In the meanwhile, Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani entered the House amid the thumping of desks as the MPs sitting on the treasury took refuge behind him from the strong barrage of criticism unleashed by the Leader of Opposition on the Government for its follies.
Ch Nisar also grilled the Speaker National Assembly for his visible tilt towards the Government and not barring the ministers and even Prime Minister from expressing views on sub judice matters like she did when a couple of days back Ch Nisar was about to speak on the government-judiciary standoff.
Later Speaker took a few minutes to clarify her position and invited Leader of the Opposition on tea and stretched nerves of the MPs, especially Leader of the Opposition, got relaxed a little bit as the broad smile on the face of Ch Nisar could be seen sitting in the press gallery.
The announcement of settlement of issue with apex judiciary on the floor of the House sent a wave of jubilation and the mood of the House changed altogether as by the time Prime Minister eased back in his chair, the members sitting behind hovered on him to greet him for showing political acumen and sagacity to avert the imminent clash between the institutions.
Taking advantage of this relaxed moment after almost a weeklong nerve shattering tension some MPs took their files to the Prime Minister to have his signatures on it.
