At least 36 people killed in Kohistan avalanche

At least 36 people have been killed when an avalanche hit several houses in Kohistan. According to DPO Kohistan Muhammad Ilyas, the incident happened on Wednesday evening when an avalanche hit dozens of houses in Saheri village in Bagrodara area in tehsil Kandia. An avalanche in a remote mountain area of northwest Pakistan has killed at least 20 people and left another 30 missing, police said Thursday.
Initial reports said that about 36 people have been killed whereas villagers have recovered 19 dead bodies. Search operation for stranded people is underway. DPO said a request has been made to commissioner Hazara division to send helicopter for rescue operation.
