RAWALPINDI National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Wednesday submitted an application here in the Accountability Court seeking reopening of cases against former prime minister and Pakistan Muslim League-N Quaid Mian Nawaz Sharif, Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif and some of their family members.
NAB Special Prosecutor Abdul Basir Qureshi submitted the application in the court and requested for the reopening of three NAB references against Mian Nawaz Sharif and his family members.
After taking up the application, the AC judge Tariq Abbassi directed the authorities to submit the relevant record in the court on the next hearing and adjourned the proceedings till February 22.
The NAB has sought reopening of Hudabia Paper Mills, Ittifaq Foundry and Raiwind assets references against the Sharif family, saying that all the cases were pending against them in the court and trial against them should be initiated.
According to details, the cases were filed in 2000 on the orders of then president Pervez Musharraf but the cases were shelved since the court adjourned these references sine die in April 2001 after the PML-N leaders left the country under a clandestine deal.
NAB had also tried to open these case in August 2007 when the Supreme Court announced that Mian Nawaz Sharif and his family could not be stopped from returning to their country.
