SC summons AG on Kairas TV statement
ISLAMABAD - The Supreme Court has issued a notice to Attorney General of Pakistan to explain the statement of Federal Minister for Information Qamar Zaman Kaira, which he gave to a private TV Channel telecast on January 12.
According to a press release issued here on Monday, Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has been pleased to pass the following order:
.........I consider it appropriate to fix this matter in the apex court for today (Tuesday) and notice to Attorney General of Pakistan be issued in the first instance. A criminal application No. 18 of 2010 case has been fixed for hearing on 19-01-2010 at 09:00 a.m. in Supreme Court or soon, thereafter, as may be convenient to the Court in the courthouse at Islamabad, the release further said.
