Bomber strikes in Mardan
May 19, 2008 PESHAWAR (Agencies) - At least 13 people were killed and 19 others wounded in a suicide attack close to an army training centre in Mardan, senior government and military officials said.
"At least 13 people are dead," said NWFP Senior Minister Bashir Bilour.
The bomber, who was on foot, blew himself close to a bakery in a market and outside Punjab Regimental Centre in the city, which has experienced several attacks blamed on pro-Taliban militants in recent months.
"The suicide bomber blew himself outside the gates of the training centre," Army spokesman Major-General Athar Abbas said.
Senior police official Tahir Khan said that 19 people were injured in Sunday's bombing, which he called a suicide attack. "We have found two legs and several human limbs and body parts from the blast site," he told AFP. "The victims include four army personnel.
