Magnitude of tragedy very high: Nawaz

Islamabad- Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Monday announced that each of its MNAs would donate Rs 500,000 for relief and rehabilitation of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).
The decision was taken at the Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting chaired by the party Quaid Muhammad Nawaz Sharif here at the Punjab House.
According to the party sources, the meeting also discussed the modalities of fund-raising and its distribution to the IDPs.
The meeting also decided that the medicines to all the IDPs would be provided free of cost and as per requirements.
Senator Ishaq Dar announced to donate Rs 50 million for the rehabilitation of the IDPs of Swat and Malakand Division.
Briefing the meetingSardar Zulfikar Khosa informed that Punjab Government had raise a fund of Rs 100 million and 200 truckloads of relief material had been handed over to the NWFP government.
Addressing the meeting, the PML-N chief Mian Nawaz Sharif said only 30 per cent of IDPs were staying in camps.
Nawaz Sharif said that the magnitude of this tragedy was very high and the nation should accept its humanitarian responsibility to meet this unprecedented challenge.
The PML-N Quaid reiterated his promise running of a full-fledged relief camp by the Punjab Government where PML-N was in the government and directed provincial organizations to fully mobilize all its tiers for this noble cause.
The CWC called for concerted efforts for relief and rehabilitation of IDPs and urged all segments of the society to render their efforts to mitigate their miseries.
Later talking to the media persons, PML-N Central Information Secretary Ahsan Iqbal said the relief efforts for IDPs dominated the agenda of the meeting in which the entire party leadership urged the government to ensure transparency in distribution of relief goods and disbursement of funds.
He said the PML-N leadership was of the view that the root cause of deteriorating law and order situation across the country was that the rule of law did not prevail in the country confronting several issues.
Ahsan said that only the rule of law could guarantee the national security and dignity, adding it could also ensure countrys deliverance from the issues like extremism, poverty and unemployment.
He said the country was going through critical circumstances in the Northern Areas, FATA and Balochistan and all this chaos could be well dealt with through ensuring supremacy of the Constitution and Parliament.
He said there was a need that the government restored peoples confidence in democracy and ensured good governance to help revive the national economy.
