Musharraf mulls 'In the line of fire-II'

ISLAMABAD - Former President General (r) Pervez Musharraf Wednesday during his meeting with PML-Q parliamentarians resolved that he would permanently stay in Pakistan and would never go in forced or self-imposed exile.
As many as 30 parliamentarians of PML-Q called on Musharraf at Army House, Rawalpindi. Among the prominent were Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, Mushahid Hussain Sayed, Sheikh Waqas Akram, Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada, Marvi Memon, Ghaus Bux Mehar, Amir Muqam and Tariq Azim.   
“He was very relaxed, confident and got surprised by our sudden visit. He told us that after pondering a lot on the pros and cons of the impeachment move, he had decided to tender his resignation to bury the persistent confrontation between the Parliament and the Presidency,� said a PML-Q parliamentarian who was part of the delegation.
The parliamentarian further told TheNation that the former President also told the delegation that he had no intention to settle abroad and would stay in Pakistan. “Musharraf told us that his residence at Chak Shahzad was incomplete and after its completion he would shift there,� PML-Q lawmaker further said.
According to sources, the former President was also not interested in taking part in politics and had also decided to stay away from media. “Musharraf told the delegation that he would not destabilise the incumbent government,â€� the sources said. “He also told the delegation that he had resigned in the supreme interest of the country and not according to any sort of deal,â€� the sources added. The sources told The Nation that some members of the delegation also offered the former President their residences to stay in, if he liked to do so but that was refused by Musharraf with gratitude.
