'Bulletproof' Mercedes rip-off

It was another chunk for the national exchequer when irrationally, 28 more Mercedes cars were imported to save the lives of the President and PM (two close friends) while leaving the 170 million people of the country to the mercy of God.
It is relevant to mention here that despite the passage of two years, the incumbent rulers did not dare to initiate an inquiry into the matter that damaged the economy of Pakistan to a great extent.
Presently, 13 Mercedes are in the use of the Presidency while the remaining 15 are being used by the PM Secretariat. Of the earlier imported seven Mercedes cars, Ministers are using five, and two are not being used and are parked at some unknown location, the sources informed.
Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Qamar Zaman Kaira, when contacted, confirmed that the deal was made during Musharraf’s rule and himself being a focal person in the war against terrorism was using one of those bulletproof vehicles.
To a query, he said that those vehicles are now in the pool of the government. Responding to another question, Kaira said that he was not clear regarding the exact number of vehicles and details of the said deal, adding that he was the only Minister who was using a bulletproof car.
Despite numerous attempts, close aides of Pervez Musharraf and Shaukat Aziz could not be available for comments.
