ISLAMABAD Embattled President Asif Ali Zardari ignited his search engine for useful pieces of advice from wherever he gets, as he has also sought counselling from top legal aide of his predecessor General (Retd) Pervez Musharraf.
Although Presidential spokesman, Farhatullah Babar, has categorically denied the meeting, yet sources in the Presidency have confirmed late night meeting of Sharifuddin Pirzada with the President at the Presidency on Wednesday.
The sources insisted that Pirzada was scheduled to visit the Presidency again on Thursday late night. However, checked again before filing of this report, the sources informed that the second meeting has been rescheduled for near future due to the Presidents engagements with the American delegation.
In a rush to rebut the Zardari-Pirzada meeting, Babar in the first place stated that the President was in Lahore on Thursday. When reminded by this scribe that the President had arrived back in Islamabad on Wednesday evening and the sources were talking about a late night meeting, he corrected himself by saying, Yes he (the President) was here by the evening but there was no meeting which you are talking about for sure.
The sources close to Sharifuddin Pirzada were not in a position to say anything about his meeting with the President but they confirmed that he was in the Federal Capital on Wednesday since he resides in Karachi. His residence numbers both in Karachi and in Islamabad were not responding at all despite daylong efforts on part of this scribe.
Earlier, the Presidency sources informed that the President sought legal way out of the current imbroglio in the wake of Supreme Courts detailed judgement on NRO that according to analysts have threatened not only his stay in the power but also in the politics. The sources claimed that Sharifuddin Pirzada has agreed to extend legal support to the President but in a highly confidential manner without claiming any name or credit for that. It was, however, not clear that President Zardari would pay Sharifuddin back in terms of cash or kind, the sources added.
