Survival lies in realising vision of Quaid, Iqbal: PM

LAHORE - Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani has said that the coalition government is trying to bring forth uniform education system in the country.
Speaking at the prize distribution ceremony of 8th Nazriati Summer School of Nazria Pakistan Trust at Aiwan-e-Karkunan Tehrik-e-Pakistan on Monday, he said the Government is focusing on promoting education without which the nation cannot prosper.
Editor-in-Chief The Nation and Chairman Nazria Pakistan Trust Majid Nizami, Mehmood Ali Durrani, Interior Affairs Advisor Rehman Malik, Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs Najamuddin, Principal Secretary to Prime Minister Siraj Shamsuddin, Col (retd) Jamshed Tarin, Senator Naeem Hussain Chattha, Begum Majida Wyne, Mian Azizul Haq Qureshi, Dr Javed Iqbal, Dr Rafique Ahmad, Azizur Rehman Chann, Pir Nazim Hussain Shah and Munir Ahmad Khan were also present on the stage.
The Prime Minister walked straight to the Gold Medallists of Pakistan Movement and shook hands with them. He announced a grant of Rs 100 million for the Aiwan-e-Quaid-e-Azam of NPT at Johar Town. He said he would himself lay the foundation-stone of the proposed building.
Prizes to eight boys and girls were given away for excellent performance. Principal of the school, Prof Allama Muzaffar Hussain Mirza and head teacher Saadia Imran were given shields. Summer school student Mehk Sabir also addressed while verses were recited by Hafiz Adeel, Na’at by Memona Sufian and national song by Usman Munir. Secretary NPT Shahid Rashid conducted the proceedings.
The Prime minister said the Quaid had termed education as a matter of life and death for a human being. According to him, there is no justice in the world. The strong are trying to dominate the weak. We have to pay attention to the education if we have to make the world safe, he added.
He also directed for singing of national anthem with voice and not music. Saying that it should be mandatory in all schools, he asked the authorities concerned for its implementation.
PM Gillani said: “We have to go back to the eternal teachings of Islam and the thoughts of Quaid and Allama Iqbal if we have to meet the challenges ahead.”
