Survival lies in realising vision of Quaid, Iqbal: PM

PM Gillani said: “We have to go back to the eternal teachings of Islam and the thoughts of Quaid and Allama Iqbal if we have to meet the challenges ahead.”

According to him, said Iqbal’s Address at Allahabad is equally applicable today as it was before partition of the Sub-continent. It was Islam on the basis of which Pakistan came into being, he stressed.

He, however, said that ups and down are part of the nations life but those who hold the ideology banner truly and firmly in their hands remain successful. Our survival is hidden and lies in the secret of treading the path shown by the Quaid and Allama Iqbal, he added. Any deviation from this path means ruination of our foundation. It was for this reason that nations transfer their legacies to the younger generations and it was a matter of satisfaction that NPT was doing this formidable task of transferring ideological heritage to youth. No one can make progress in furthering his/her ulterior motives nor would succeed in proliferation of any new ideologies without detracting us from our ideology, he added. The Quaid and his associates challenged the super power of their time only on the basis of sticking to their ideology. This determination was so powerful that the people gathered around them and consequently became a nation in a free country.

He praised Majid Nizami and NPT’s striving for the promotion of Islam’s social, political and economic system as well as love for those notions among the younger generation, for which the Muslims of the Sub-continent made sacrifices of their lives.

The Prime Minister proudly mentioned the name of his illustrious father Syed Alamdar Hussain Gillani who seconded the Resolution of 23rd March 1940 and who stood shoulder to shoulder with the Quaid in the struggle for the homeland’s creation.

He praised Nizami sahib, saying that he took inspiration from Nizamis when he was imprisoned. The way they countered the dictator is exemplary and proved that the pen is more powerful than the sword.
