Objectives achieved in Hangu: ISPR

ISLAMABAD (NNI) - The government has achieved the objectives in the ongoing security operation against militants in district Hangu, however no formal decision has been taken to stop it, Inter Services Public Relations said Tuesday.
Director General Major General Athar Abbas while talking to BBC said all the areas of district Hangu have been cleared of the militants.
He said 15 militants were killed and 9 troops injured in the security forces operation in Hangu.
Meanwhile, according to local sources security forces bombed the hideouts of the militants in Tora area of the district.
They said that the officials held talks with the elders of the area to hand over the wanted men.
However, curfew is still in place in Doaba area of the district and the central hotel and Parachinar road is closed for traffic.
Meanwhile, a jirga in district Hangu has warned the local people against helping Taliban and said Rs 2,000,000 fine will be imposed on those who help or give shelter to Taliban.
A local jirga was held in Karbogha area of the district, which was attended by local elders, Ulema and public representatives.
Hafiz Sultan, naib nazim of Karbogha Union Council, while talking to BBC said the jirga unanimously decided that any miscreants or wanted men to the government would not be allowed in the area nor would they be helped.
“The violators of the decisions will be fined Rs 2,000,000”, he said.
