QUETTA - Unidentified armed men shot dead three people including a union council nazim and wounded
another person at Fatima Jinnah Road on Monday night.
Two masked men armed guns opened fire on Union Council Nazim Talib Agha when he, along with his
companion and a gunman, was on his way at Bugti Street. As a result, Talib Agha and Jawad Agha succumbed
to multiple injuries on the spot while gunman Muhammad Hussain and a passer-by were shifted to a nearby
hospital in critical condition. Later on, the passer-by, identified as Abdul Ghani, also lost his life due to critical
wounds.
Soon after the incident, police and other law enforcement agencies reached the site and cordoned off the area,
however, not before the attackers had managed to escape. The union nazim and his friend belonged to Shia
sect. Police sources say it can be a target killing. However, so far no one has claimed the responsibility for the
attack.
Police handed over the bodies to the heirs after completing legal formalities and started investigation. CM
Balochistan Nawab Muhammad Aslam Raisani has strongly condemned the killings and directed for immediate
arrest of assailants.
Meanwhile, Balochistan Shia Conference has announced three-day mourning against the incident. Anjuman
Tajran and political parties have also given a shutterdown strike call against the killing of Talib Agha and others
on Tuesday.
