AWAR - As many as 11 suspected militants were killed in three US drone attacks in North Waziristan Agency on Sunday. Official sources said that in the first attack a US unmanned aircraft fired two missiles at a vehicle in Doga Mada Khel village of Tehsil Datta Khel, almost 40km away from Miranshah.
They said four suspected militants were killed in the strike, while the targeted vehicle was completely destroyed in the attack. Besides, in the same attack, a house situated near the site was also damaged.
The sources said all four persons present in the vehicle were killed, adding that they were local militants. Almost three hours later, a US drone again targeted a motorcycle in Dog Mada Khel area, killing three suspected militants and destroying the bike completely.
Four more suspected militants were killed in the third strike in Razmak town when a drone fired two missiles at a vehicle parked inside a suspected militant compound. Several persons were also injured in this attack. Local residents said they had seen drones flying over the area after the attacks.
Meanwhile, dozens of tribesmen from different walks of life and affectees of drone strikes staged a protest demonstration here on Sunday and demanded of the government to stop supply to Nato forces in Afghanistan if drone attacked are not stopped. Tribesmen, affected people of drone attacks, elders, students, shopkeepers and religious figures took part in the protest held at main Mir Ali Bazaar, where the demonstrators, while holding banners and placards, chanted slogans against the drone attacks in Fata. Reportedly more than 2,500 protestors took part in the protest. The speakers addressing the protestors said that US drone attacks had paralysed life of the people of the area. They claimed innocent people were being killed in the attacks. They said policies being made in Pentagon were totally against Muslims and tribesmen of tribal areas of Pakistan. Similarly, they said that the US was making conspiracies against the Muslims.
