QUETTA - Balochistan’s ministers while expressing serious concern over increase in incidents of target killings in province have said that law enforcement agencies were not cooperating with government to improve the situation.
The house met with Deputy Speaker Matiullah Aghan in the chair here on Tuesday.
Provincial Home Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Zehri on a point of order said that he was well aware about the people who were involved in target killing incidents, but they had no power to take action against them. “I know the elements involved in target killings in Khuzdar, Kalat and Quetta,” he said, adding that an accused was arrested from Khuzdar but Joint Investigation Team (JIT) declared him clean. He said that after release of that accused, murder of SHO of Khuzdar occurred. He assured that the situation would improve if the elected representatives were provided power.
Earlier, provincial minister for Quality Education Jan Ali Changezi denounced the performance of the provincial government and IGP Balochistan for their failure to check incidents of target killing and maintain peace in the province. He demanded immediate transfer of the IGP Balochistan and urged the Chief Minister to take serious notice of the target killings. He said the provincial government should resign if it was unable to provide security to masses. He strongly condemned the brutal murder of UC Nazim Talib Aghan and his friend the other day in Quetta and said that he had been getting threats but police failed to provide him security. He said that a number of incidents of terrorism had occurred in the city but so far no any culprit had been arrested. He said that we were the representatives of people and it was our responsibility to ensure security of people. Minister for Labour and Manpower Maulvi Ghulam Sarwar Mussa Khail supported the stance of Jan Ali Changazi regarding law and order. Provincial Minister for Revenue Engineer Zamrak while condemning the incidents of target killing demanded for stern punishment to elements involved in such incidents. He said that incident of target killing and other subversive activities were the result of policies of former dictatorial government. He termed killing of principal of Commerce College a big loss for the education of province and added that people were being killed but culprits could not be brought to justice. He said that three Baloch leaders were murdered in Turbat but so far the culprits were not arrested. Provincial ministers Ali Madad Jattak and others said that through a conspiracy people of different communities living in Quetta were being pitted against each other so that the peace of city could be spoiled. They regretted and said that law enforcement agencies were not cooperating with provincial government and without taking into confidence the representatives of people the law and order could not be improved.
