ISLAMABAD Information Minister Qamar Zaman Kaira has made it clear that there are no differences between President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani over the issue of National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO).
Talking to journalists here on Monday, Kaira said those who were listed as NRO beneficiaries were only accused. He added that they were not convicted and demands for their resignations at once were not justified. To a question about NRO beneficiaries list, Kaira said the list was prepared by NAB. He said the accused could not be declared as convict till the verdict of a court.
To a question about Prime Minister Gilanis statement, he said that the PM had clearly stated that he would resign if his family was proved guilty.
When asked about the names of the persons who got their loans written off during Musharraf regime, the minister said that it was not a secret as their names were available.
He said that NRO was legacy of the past, and the Prime Minister and Pakistan Peoples Party had no different stance in this regard. He said that PPP was not scared of cases, adding, We are ready to face them. To a question, he said that PML-N Quaid had inked an exile deal with ex-president Musharraf and his decision was right according to situation.
