PPP, 'Q' contacts abroad for change in Punjab
By Afzal Bajwa September 24, 2008 ISLAMABAD - It could be mere coincidence that Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi of the PML-Q is in US while PPP Co-Chairman President Asif Ali Zardari is also out there for the UN General Assembly but the political observers took it the other way round.Although former Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi is trying his luck by getting through with the PPP leadership outside the country, serious elements of his party, even his family factor, were rather tilted towards the opposite direction.
Well-placed sources in the PML-Q believe that party President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain along with his diehard fellows was not in favour of seeking an alliance with the Pakistan Peoples Party. On the other hand, they (Shujaat and followers) have been dreaming of the so-called reunion of the Pakistan Muslim League by merging their faction into the faction led by the former Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.
