Clash over judges issue mars PPP CEC meeting
By Maqbool Malik and NAVEED BUTT July 25, 2008 Asif Zardari reminded the members that the current economic downturn was the result of the inept policies of the previous government that had led to inflation and price hike in the country.
He, however, asserted that the coalition government was aware of the situation and was trying its utmost to control the situation through a well thought out strategy and vowed to give relief to the masses in the due course of time.
Asif Zardari said the government was working day and night to steer the country out of the crises and consulted party members for evolving a comprehensive plan to protect the interests of the people.
Members of the party gave their suggestions, which the party co-chairman said would be given due attention while formulating the policies.
Majority of the members were of the view that important issues, including restoration of the deposed judges, should not be delayed further so that the government could address other issues of public importance.
Asif Zardari also took the party members into confidence about his talks with the heads of the coalition parties and their commitment to remain together to surmount the challenges being faced by the country.
He directed the Punjab chapter of the party to work in unison with the PML-N so that problems of the people are promptly addressed and resolved.
Asif Zardari also announced reorganization of the party at the national level and directed the office bearers to fill the vacant posts immediately.
The party ticket holders were also directed to revive their contacts with the electorate so that their problems could be resolved as well.
