Power-sharing in Punjab hits snags

By MUBASHIR HASSAN September 24, 2008

LAHORE - Hardly two days after making rapprochement with the PPP and giving assurance of implementing the power-sharing formula in Punjab, the PML-N has now made it conditional to a similar cooperation by the PPP in the Centre for its MNAs.

“Accommodate our MNAs in the Centre, and get the same cooperation for your MPAs in Punjab,” is the final word from PML-N for its coalition partner in Punjab.

A four-member joint committee of PPP and PML-N tasked to work out modalities of implementing the 40:60 power sharing formula, failed to achieve any breakthrough as it met here at the CM secretariat for the second consecutive day. It comprises Sardar Zulfiqar Khosa, Rana Sana Ullah, Raja Riaz and Tanvir Ashraf Kaira.
